Díaz-Canel Congratulates Russian Counterpart on His Birthday

Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, today congratulated his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on his 73rd birthday.
"From Cuba, we wish you much health and personal happiness, so that you may continue to successfully lead that brotherly country," the leader declared on his X account.
On the occasion of the date, Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of Cuba, joined in the congratulations to the Russian head of state. With his message, the Cuban premier highlighted the "enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation" with the country.
The leader of the Russian Federation was born on October 7, 1952, in Leningrad. On December 31, 1999, Putin assumed the role of interim president of Russia, and on March 26, 2000, he was elected head of the Russian state by popular vote. Since then, he has been re-elected to the position several times in 2004, 2012, 2018, and 2024.
Under Vladimir Putin's leadership, Russia has hosted several major international events, including the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Furthermore, with Russia's active participation, significant international associations such as BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) were created, strengthening the country's position on the world stage.
Cuba and Russia celebrated the 65th anniversary of the re-establishment of their bilateral diplomatic relations on May 8 of this year, 2025.
