Díaz-Canel Congratulates President-Elect of Seychelles

Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, extended his congratulations today to Patrick Herminie on his election as President of Seychelles.

From his account on the social network X, the Cuban leader reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthen the historic ties of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

Herminie, leader of the United Seychelles party (US), won the second round of the presidential elections with 52.7 percent of the vote (34,389 ballots).

Outgoing President Wavel Ramkalawan received 47.3 percent in the elections held on October 9, 10, and 11.

Cuba and the Republic of Seychelles have maintained long-standing diplomatic relations, established on April 12, 1978, based on friendship, solidarity, and cooperation.
