Diaz-Canel checked measures to face tropical storm Rafael

Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, checked on Monday with each of the provinces on alert the measures taken to face the passage of tropical storm Rafael.

Work has been carried out with time and organization, the president stressed on X.

We insist on the protection of our people and their material goods, said Diaz-Canel in his message. What we do now will allow us to lessen the damage, he concluded.

The National Civil Defense General Staff decreed the Alert Phase as of 3:00 p.m. on Monday for the western provinces of Matanzas, Mayabeque, Havana, Artemisa, Pinar del Rio and the special municipality of Isle of Youth, due to the possibility of being directly hit by a hurricane.
