Diaz-Canel assesses socioeconomic development strategy in Matanzas

The first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and president of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel, is heading a working visit to western Matanzas province in order to evaluate the economic and social development of the territory.

During the meeting, the Cuban leader, together with top local authorities, is analyzing the implementation of the economic, social and political strategy outlined early this year, in accordance with the results achieved so far in each sector.

The president is accompanied by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Tapia, and the member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the PCC Central Committee, Roberto Morales.

Matanzas is another stop in the head of State’s tour of Cuban provinces, after previous visits to Cienfuegos, Villa Clara and Sancti Spiritus to monitor the socioeconomic progress in each region.
