Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel accused US authorities today of spreading lies about the island's alleged involvement in the armed conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

"We categorically reject the mendacious imputations of the US government regarding Cuba's alleged participation in the conflict in Ukraine," he stated via the social media platform X. "They have not provided, nor will they be able to provide, any evidence to support these unfounded accusations, which are used to sustain their new campaign against Cuba," the head of state added.

Earlier on Saturday, the Cuban government asserted that it does not participate in the Ukraine conflict in any way and accused US authorities of spreading disinformation on the matter.

According to a statement from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the United States is disseminating "a slanderous accusation that began in 2023 by some media outlets, without providing evidence or basis of any kind, and clearly fulfilling a commissioned service."

"Cuba is not part of the armed conflict in Ukraine, nor does it participate with military personnel there, or in any other country," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
