Havana, April 8 (RHC)-- Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero called for the improvement of the national statistical system to offer higher quality information and better capture the country's reality.
In this regard, Marrero referred to the need for the National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI) to include data related to the new forms of non-state management and the Cuban economic and social model transformations.
Those items were the focus of a meeting to analyze the work developed by the ONEI in 2021, its achievements and shortcomings, and the goals set for 2022, as reviewed by Marrero on Twitter.
The chief executive described the past year as a challenging one for the functions of this organization, which had to make adjustments to its work system given the changes that took place in the country.
"ONEI has a decisive role for the contribution it makes in terms of information for decision-making and the design of public policies in our country," he remarked in another message.
The nstitution was created on February 2, 2011, due to the organization of the Government's information system, and it is subordinated to the Council of Ministers.
Its mission is to direct the national statistical system and be responsible for the methodological direction, organization, coordination, integration, and control of the government information system.
