Cuba’s President calls for water care and protection

Havana, Mar 22 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel called today on Twitter to take care and protect water, on the occasion of the World Day of the precious and scarce liquid.
Every year since 1993, World Water Day raises awareness and inspires actions to address sanitation and water crisis at an international level, as 2 billion people still live without access to safe drinking water, according to the United Nations.
The international organization details that problems throughout the life-giving water cycle are undermining progress in major conflicts: from health to hunger, from gender equality to jobs, education, industry, natural disasters and lack of peace.
The latest numbers show that governments must work an average of four times faster for everyone to have safe water by 2030, but this is not a simple desire that can be solved by just one actor or group.
This is driving the global “Be the Change” campaign that encourages people to take action in their own lives to change the way they use, consume and manage water.
