Matanzas, March 22 (RHC)-- Shortly before noon Tuesday and after highly complex technical work, the ignition and heating process of the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Power Plant engines began.
The plant, the most important among its peers, had been disconnected since Thursday due to a boiler malfunction.
The start-up process took several hours until the final synchronization of the thermal block to the grid took place around midnight.
Misbel Palmero Aguiar, general director of the plant, told Granma newspaper that experts described the hydraulic test as satisfactory.
In recent months, the Antonio Guiteras plant stably generated 260 megawatts, and its reconnection offers stability to the island´s electric system, especially in the western region.
