Employees of Cuba's state mission in India paid tribute today to the 32 Cuban combatants who fell in combat in Venezuela while fulfilling their duty.

Following a minute of silence, red roses were placed on a symbolic pedestal guarded by the national flag as part of the homage to the brave at the Cuban embassy in New Delhi.

Cuban Ambassador Juan Marsán highlighted the expressions of respect and pride from the people towards their compatriots who died on an internationalist mission. He noted that this tribute will continue this Friday with a march in rejection of threats from the United States.

The diplomat stated that this response from the Cuban people also shows support for the Revolution and its leaders, the unity on the Caribbean island, and is also evidence of the Cuban position of condemning any attempt of aggression against the country.

For her part, First Secretary Maiky Díaz referred to Cuba's glorious history of internationalism, which is one of the principles of the island's Revolution.

She emphasized that each of these heroes, who will be remembered with pride and love, honors the Martí maxim that "Homeland is Humanity."

The mission's Second Secretary, Guadalupe Frómeta, stated that the feeling of losing a loved one is much greater when you know the faces of each one of them.

Furthermore, she added, this type of situation reinforces patriotic sentiment, gives more strength to fight in defense of sovereignty, and to give everything for the Revolution from our trenches.

"The Revolution gave us, the humble, the possibility to emancipate ourselves and granted us all rights, that's why it is our most precious asset," she emphasized.
