Cubans de Armas and Sanz lose in their debut at World Wrestling Championship

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 12 (ACN) Greco-Roman gladiator Kevin de Armas, 60 kilograms (kg), and female freestyle gladiator Yaynelis Sanz (55 kg), both lost early today at the World Wrestling Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.
Both lost in their debut at the event, although in the case of the Greek wrestler, Armas lost badly with a 2-12 defeat against Haithem Mahmoud Ahmed, from Egypt, in the qualifying round.
Sanz made his first appearance in the round of 16 against Sushma Shokeen, of India, and lost 1-2 in a close bout that gave access to the round of the best eight, according to the tournament's official site.
The two rivals of the Cuban wrestlers could not reach the final in their respective divisions, so they were not pulled to the repechage to continue competing in search of the bronze medal.
