The member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and vice president of the Republic, Salvador Valdés Mesa held a meeting on Wednesday with his Tanzanian counterpart, Philip Isdor Mpango, as part of his official visit to that African country.

In its X profile, the Cuban Presidency informed that the top leader referred to the historic relations of both countries that have their roots in the friendship cemented between leaders Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016) and Julius Nyerere (1922-1999).

Likewise, he thanked Tanzania for its support in Cuba's struggle against the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade, and its support for the exclusion of Cuba from the list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism.

Valdés Mesa assured Philip Isdor Mpango that his country can always count on our solidarity.

The same social network adds that, later, in the presence of the vice presidents, two memorandums of understanding were signed.

One between the Sokoine University of Agriculture of Tanzania and the University of Artemisa, in western Cuba, and the other between the Regulatory Authority of Medicine and Medical Equipment of Tanzania and the CECMED of Cuba.
