Havana, Jul 8 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel today visited the community of Las Canteras, in Playa municipality, which is undergoing a complete transformation to improve the living conditions of its residents.

The locality, with 591 houses and where 1,600 people live, is part of the government programs to improve buildings and services, with the support of various agencies and territorial actors.

According to the President’s Twitter account, he began his tour at the Vilma Espin School, inaugurated by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on April 9, 2013.

The head of state also arrived at the site where the construction of a medical office and the polyclinic of the area is progressing, as well as toured the field where children play baseball.

According to authorities, there are 145 communities in transformation in this capital city as part of the government’s prioritized programs for vulnerable areas.

The actions include initiatives to bring services closer to the locality, improvements in housing, centers and roads, based on the identification of neighborhood needs.
