Havana, May 28 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Friday received the Doctorate in Technical Sciences from the Central University 'Marta Abreu' of Las Villas (UCLV), the university reported on its Twitter account.
On its message, the institution's members congratulated Diaz-Canel 'for his scientific maturity and commitment to (Cuba's) development.'
Diaz-Canel, who is also the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), participated in the ceremony, along with UCLV professors and doctors in specific sciences, the source noted.
On March 22, the head of State presented his doctoral paper, in which Diaz-Canel explained the government system based on science and innovation for the country's sustainable development, and defined those as one of three essential pillars for government management.
Diaz-Canel graduated as an electronic engineer in 1982 from UCLV, where he had been a professor since April 1985.
