Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Sunday recalled Vietnamese revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh (1890-1969) on his 134th birthday.

On his X profile, the head of State described Ho Chi Minh as an undisputable leader of his people, an example of revolutionary and tireless fighter against colonialism and imperialism.

As part of the tributes in Cuba on Ho Chi Minh’s birthday, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) and the Vietnamese Embassy in Havana laid a wreath in the park that bears the name of the first Vietnamese president on Saturday.

The tribute was attended by ICAP President Fernando González Llort, Hero of the Republic of Cuba; Nguyen Van Tien, deputy head of the Supreme People’s Court of Vietnam, who is on an official visit to Cuba; and Vietnamese Ambassador in Havana Le Quang Long.

Also present at the ceremony were representatives of Cuban departments and social organizations, diplomats and Vietnamese citizens who live and work in Cuba, as well as Havana residents.

At the ceremony, students from several local primary and secondary schools sang songs, recited poems and danced in praise of the Vietnamese independence hero, the revolutionary cause and the special solidarity between both peoples, the Vietnamese News Agency (VNA) reported.
