Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today greeted Bolivia's independence day and extended a hug of solidarity to his counterpart, Luis Arce, to the people and government of the Andean nation.

On the social network X, Díaz-Canel recalled that Bolivia owes its name to the Liberator of America, Simón Bolívar, and its status as a Plurinational State to a centuries-long struggle of its native peoples.

Regarding the date, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez expressed on the digital platform the solidarity and support of the Caribbean nation to the Bolivian authorities.

Likewise, the island’s Foreign Ministry ratified the will to continue strengthening ties of friendship and bilateral cooperation.

Bolivia’s independence was proclaimed on August 6, 1825 at a congress held in the city of Sucre.
