Cuban president does volunteer work on historic anniversary

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel participated on Sunday in a productiv work event, held throughout the country, on the 171st birthday of National Hero José Marto.

Members of the Young Communist League (UJC) and the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) accompanied the president in the work.

The Presidency of the Republic highlighted on its X account that after vising five municipalities this week and participate in the traditional March of Torches on Saturday, the head of State and PCC Organization Secretary Roberto Morales did volunteer work.

After weeding bananas, planting sweet potatoes and collecting root vegetables, the youths and workers met with the highest leadership of the political organization.

Cuba is celebrating a special day of tribute to National Hero José Martí (1853-1895) on the occasion of his 171st birthday on Sunday.
