Havana, Oct 7 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Friday highlighted three essential topics to tackle the country's recovery after Hurricane Ian hit Pinar del Rio province severely.

Restoring power, pumping water, and sanitizing cities and communities were the priorities emphasized by the Cuban president during his visit to Pinar del Rio on Friday.

When meeting with local authorities, the head of State analyzed the housing issue and reiterated that resorting to solutions known as temporary facilities has to stop as they turn into problems that accumulate with the inevitable passage of hurricanes, the Cuban Presidency tweeted.

This has been the fourth visit of the Cuban president to Pinar del Rio, the territory most hit by this weather phenomenon, a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale that heavily damaged agriculture, houses, the power grid, and the telecommunications system in this Cuban western region.

Recently, Pinar del Rio Governor Ruben Ramos said that 23.89 percent of people from the 11 municipalities have been powered back on and highlighted that 62 brigades from across the country are working around the clock to restore power as soon as possible.
