Council of Defense Session Dominates Cuban Media Coverage
Led by the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today’s session of the National Defense Council occupies the most prominent spaces in Cuban media outlets.

According to reports from the newspapers Granma and Juventud Rebelde, members of the Council met the previous day "in fulfillment of the activities scheduled for Defense Day," with the purpose of refining the preparation and cohesion of leadership bodies and the population.

Analysis of War State Transition Plans
During the meeting, they analyzed and approved "the plans and measures for the transition to a State of War, as part of the country's preparation under the strategic concept of the War of All the People."

Both newspapers emphasize in their digital editions that Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, "was kept informed of the development of the activity, which he described as a good and efficient meeting."

Context of National Defense Day
The session took place in the context of the nationwide observance of National Defense Day, during which popular forces were trained to confront any aggression.

The National Defense Council is the highest state body in the Caribbean nation and is tasked with organizing, directing, and preparing citizens, even in peacetime, for their protection. It also ensures compliance with existing regulations related to national defense and security.

Composed of the President of the Republic, who leads it and appoints a Vice President and other members, in exceptional and disaster situations, the Council directs the country and assumes the powers corresponding to state bodies, with the exception of constituent authority.
