Within the framework of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla represented the island in several multilateral events, where he reiterated Cuba’s condemnation of the U.S. government’s warlike threats and called once again for the lifting of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade.

According to a statement released today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rodríguez Parrilla—who heads the Cuban delegation present at UN headquarters in New York for the high-level week of the forum—participated Thursday in the 26th Meeting of the ALBA-TCP Political Council, the Ibero-American Conference, the G20 Ministerial Meeting, and the CELAC-China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

During the ALBA-TCP Political Council, the Cuban minister denounced the U.S. imperialist offensive against Latin America and the Caribbean, warned about the U.S. military buildup in the Caribbean, and reiterated Cuba’s condemnation of media campaigns against legitimate governments in the region, such as that of Venezuela.

Meanwhile, at the Ibero-American Conference of Foreign Ministers, he highlighted respect for international law, inclusive cooperation, and the importance of preserving the historic legacy of consensus, including the demand to end the blockade against Cuba.

In his remarks at the G20 Ministerial Meeting, Rodríguez Parrilla called for a deep reform of the international financial system, criticized the diversion of resources toward military spending, and denounced both the Israeli genocide against Palestine and the U.S. blockade against Cuba.

At the CELAC-China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, he underscored progress in biregional cooperation and expressed gratitude for the support of Beijing and CELAC member states in rejecting the blockade and opposing Cuba’s inclusion on the list of state sponsors of terrorism.

The Cuban foreign minister also stressed the importance of the strategic partnership with China in development, technology, and infrastructure projects.
