Santiago, March 12 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez held a meeting with Chilean President Gabriel Boric, who officially took office on Friday during a ceremony at the National Congress headquarters.

In a message on Twitter, Rodriguez said it was a pleasure to greet Chilean President Gabriel Boric and convey congratulations on behalf of President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

He added in his message that he reiterated to him the most sincere wishes of success in the management of the incoming government and expressed the willingness to deepen bilateral relations.

The Cuban Foreign Minister also held a meeting with the Minister of Interior and Public Security, Izkia Sichesa, to whom he wished success in her mandate and reiterated his congratulations to President Boric.

Rodriguez headed the Cuban delegation that attended today the ceremony of transfer of mandate that included the swearing-in of the members of the new government team, with a strong female presence.

During his stay in Chile, the Cuban Foreign Minister met on Thursday with María Begoña Yarza, designated Minister of Health, with whom he exchanged experiences of the Caribbean nation in the health area.

The Cuban diplomat also met with the Chilean Minister of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, Flavio Andrés Salazar, and Antonia Urrejola, the new minister of Foreign Affairs.
