Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, member of the Political Bureau and head of Cuban foreign affairs, visited the Schomburg Center, an institution dedicated to researching the culture of Afro-descendants located in Harlem, US.

On X, he stressed that with this visit he honored the community work carried out by that institution in that Manhattan neighborhood, which 64 years ago received Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.

On the same social network, the foreign ministry informed that Rodriguez Parrilla was received by Kevin C. Williams, deputy director of the Center, and by the Harlem-Cuba Welcome Committee, Dr. Rosemari Mealy and Manolo De Los Santos.

Members of African American organizations, mainly from Harlem, also participated.

The Schomburg Center is an institution dedicated to the study of African-American culture and stands out for the relevance of African roots in the history of the United States.

On Monday, the Cuban foreign minister spoke with his Venezuelan counterpart Yvan Gil, in the framework of his participation at the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which is taking place in the high-level segment of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

During the day, Rodriguez Parrilla also spoke with Volker Türk, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and with Vivian Balakrishnan, Singapore's foreign minister, to whom he expressed Cuba's interest in advancing bilateral cooperation projects, especially in health and biotechnology.
