Cuba’s Deputy Foreign Minister Elio Rodriguez Perdomo acknowledged in Australia the support some local organizations are giving to the people and government of the Caribbean nation, an official communiqué said today.

A release from the Cuban Foreign Ministry indicated today that Rodriguez Perdomo showed his gratitude for the support given to his country, during a meeting in Canberra with members of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society and the Communist Party of Australia.

At a gathering at the Cuban embassy, the Cuban diplomat highlighted the solidarity of the Australian Communist Party, the organizations of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society and “three families with a long history of supporting our nation.”

Friends attending the meeting “ratified their position in favor of the Cuban Revolution and against the criminal blockade imposed by the United States on the island,” the communiqué read.

The Deputy Foreign Minister also expressed gratitude on behalf of the Cuban government and emphasized the implementation of the Campaign “From Australia to Cuba with Love” over three consecutive years.

He also commended solidarity endeavors from the “Southern Cross Brigade, which has been visiting Cuba for 40 years”.
