Tokyo, Mar 26 (Prensa Latina) Cuban baseball players Dayan Viciedo and Leonys Martin excelled during this season's first game of the Japan Professional Baseball League.
Viciedo, who plays with the Chunichi Dragons, drove in 7 runs, securing the victory against the Hiroshima Carps 7 to 6.
According to the website www.baseballjapones.com, this is the third time that Viciedo hits a home run in the first game of the campaign since he arrived in Japan in 2016.
His compatriot Martin did not have the same luck and his home run did not prevent the defeat of the Lotte Marines 2-8 against the SoftBank Falcons, where Alfredo Despaigne and Yurisbel Gracial, also from Cuba, play.
In addition to the aforementioned players, who took part in the opening day on Friday, another five Cuban players will play in the Japanese baseball league.
