Havana, November 2 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel expressed his appreciation to Latin American and Caribbean politicians who asked the U.S. president to lift the blockade on the island.

The dignitary added in his message that this action of solidarity constituted an act of friendship and honesty that moves the Cuban people.

For his part, the Caribbean country's Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, also expressed his gratitude to the signatories of the letter, including former presidents Dilma Rousseff of Brazil, Juan Manuel Santos and Ernesto Samper of Colombia, on the social network.

The Latin American and Caribbean politicians asked in their letter that the occupant of the White House take into account the situation that thousands of Cubans are experiencing and do everything necessary to lift the restrictions that affect the most vulnerable.

The text was made public at a time when the UN General Assembly is debating the draft resolution presented by Cuba on the need to put an end to the blockade, which annually receives the majority support of the countries of the world.
