Havana, November 3 (RHC)-- Cuba's Prime Minister Manuel Marrero today thanked through his Twitter profile the international support for the island in the battle against the blockade imposed by the United States for more than six decades.
Marrero referred to the first day of debates on the issue, held the day before in the context of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where dozens of countries and multilateral organizations expressed their repudiation of the U.S. blockade.
Several of the speakers also demanded the elimination of Cuba from the list of countries that allegedly support terrorism, drawn up by Washington in an attempt to justify the sanctions policy with which it intends to subvert the revolutionary process in this Caribbean nation.
Cuba, in the voice of its foreign minister, Bruno Rodriguez, will present this Thursday before the UNGA the draft resolution on the need to put an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against the island.
This will be the thirtieth occasion on which the world will pronounce itself on this issue, which since 1992 has received the almost unanimous support of the international community.
In the last UN vote on the proposal, on June 23, 2021, 184 countries (out of 193) were in favor of the elimination of the blockade, while three (Colombia, Brazil and Ukraine) abstained and only two (the United States and Israel) ratified their opposition.
