Havana, Nov 12 (Prensa Latina) The nomination of candidates for delegates to the People's Power, the recovery from the damage caused by Hurricane Ian and an important conference were among other topics in the news, this week in Cuba.

President Miguel Díaz-Canel visited, as he has done every week in recent times, municipalities in the western province of Pinar del Río, the most affected by the passage of Hurricane Ian on September 27, where he has verified the progress and difficulties in the recovery work.

Meanwhile, throughout the island, the process of nomination of candidates for delegates to the People’s Power, a basic element of the Cuban government system, is advancing.

Neighborhood assemblies are being held in the communities, following a program that began on October 21st and should end next October 18th, as a preliminary step to the elections of delegates, scheduled for the first round on November 27.

On that date, the representatives of the population should be elected in the 12,427 districts of the country, which will make up the municipal assemblies of the People’s Power.
