The capital repair of the motor unit of the generator sets of the Basic Business Unit (UEB) Geysel will begin next year, an investment that will allow rescuing part of the electric power generation capacity installed in the country.

Radel Luis Diaz Rosales, head of operations of the UEB Geysel in the eastern province of Holguin, in statements to the Cuban News Agency, informed that the recapitalization will be carried out abroad after the shipment of several monthly engines to be repaired, a process that began with the performance of the approval test by specialized personnel to each generator set of the company in all the provinces of the national territory.

He also commented that the engines chosen have more than 14,000 working hours, a figure above what is required for their correct operation, and their repair will allow the recovery of the sites currently paralyzed.

At the same time, work will be carried out to reestablish others that, due to lack of parts, are not working and these are the electric energy production capacities that can be recovered more quickly due to the speed with which the damaged accessories are replaced, he stressed.

The use of generators for distributed generation arose from the idea of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz and was developed between 2005 and 2009 with the aim of covering the peaks of maximum demand and serving as backup for the National Electric System.
