Havana, April 28 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, denounced how the U.S. government, amid the difficult economic situation to which it subjects the island, manipulates the migration issue for political purposes.

In his closing remarks at the 4th Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the political organization on Wednesday, he stressed that Cuba has accurately fulfilled its commitments to the migration agreements and, with the help of the people, will continue to comply and avoid as much as possible unsafe and disorderly illegal migration.

"We will not allow anything that could alter the internal order of the country, but it must be recognized that the fundamental obstacle to the fight against illegal immigration lies in the absolute tolerance and the granting of exceptional privileges to Cuban citizens who arrive illegally in the United States," Diaz-Canel said.

He added that Washington applied a destabilizing policy against Cuba to use the Cuban population as the hostage of a hegemonic and hostile ambition against the Cuban nation.

Regarding the round of migration talks held last week, Diaz-Canel considered that it is positive that these talks have been resumed; however, he stressed that they are not enough.

He said the United States must fulfill its commitments with the migration agreements in force.
