Cuba reports 39 new Covid-19 cases, totaling 6,766

Havana, Oct 29 (Prensa Latina) Cuba woke up with 39 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, to total 6,766 infections since the pandemic was detected in the island in March.
 
According to data from the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), of all patients reported with coronavirus, 90.6% were recovered, totaling 6,132 recoveries, and 25 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours.

Until midnight Wednesday, about 3,733 patients remain admitted to health institutions for clinical-epidemiological surveillance, 2,400 of them are under surveillance and 829 are suspects.

Of 504 active cases, 499 are critically stable, three are in a critical health condition and two are seriously ill.

Of the new cases, 31 are Cubans and eight are foreigners, MINSAP informed.

Those new cases belong to Pinar del Rio (23), Matanzas (nine), Sancti Spiritus (four) and Ciego de Avila (three).

Of the new patients, 30 were contacts of confirmed cases and the source of infection has not been confirmed in one case.

'Of the 39 cases, 16 are women and 23 are men. Some 25 cases were asymptomatic when the PCR test was made,' the report says.

On Wednesday, Cuban laboratories made 7,764 PCR tests in real-time to detect Covid-19, totaling 824,042 samples so far.
