Havana, Jul 13 (Prensa Latina) Cuba today reported 63 new positive cases of Covid-19, 45 medical discharges and no deaths.

The number of admitted patients is 414, of whom 197 are suspected to have been infected and 217 confirmed active, according to the daily report released by the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap).

Of the total number of infections until last Tuesday, 42 were contacts of confirmed cases, 14 of them had their source of infection abroad and the cause of the infection was not identified in the case of 7 patients.

So far, the recovery of nationals reached 1,097,740 (99.2 percent of all those confirmed), while one of those admitted is in serious condition.

Cuba accumulates 1,106,553 diagnosed with the pathogen since March 11, 2020 and the total number of fatalities as a result of the pandemic amounts to 8,529.

Such behavior places the lethality of Cuba at 0.77 percent, well below the 1.14 in the world and 1.67 in the American continent, according to a comparison of the data specified by the ministerial entity.

The day before, the health authorities reported that, until July 9, the transmission of Covid-19 in Cuba grew 83.8 percent compared to the previous month, as the average number of cases per day increased to 41.9, in compared to the 22.8 recorded in June.

Faced with such a situation, the Cuban president , Miguel Diaz-Canel, recommended the MINSAP to take measures to reinforce the perception of risk of the disease.
