Havana, Apr 15 (Prensa Latina) Cuba on Friday reported 479 new positive cases with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19, and has reported 1,099,042 cases since 2020.

According to the update by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), 5,875 patients remained hospitalized until late Thursday, 3,876 of whom were suspected cases; 48 people were under epidemiological surveillance; and 1,951 were active cases.

Some 1,922 of them have a stable clinical evolution, and there are 13 critically ill and 16 gravely ill patients in intensive care units.

No deaths from complications from Covid-19 were reported, and the death toll has risen to 8,519 since 2020. The lethality rate in Cuba is 0.78 percent, compared to 1.24 in the world and 1.78 in the Americas.

On Thursday, 590 discharges were granted, which brings the total number of recoveries to 1,088,513, that is, 99 percent of all cases in Cuba.

To tackle this epidemiological situation, Cuba has administered 35,569,651 doses of homegrown vaccines Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala so far.
