especiales

Cuban students gathered today on the steps of the University of Havana to pay homage to the memory of the eight medical students executed by Spanish colonialism.
The event was attended by the nation's President, Miguel Díaz-Canel, other members of the Political Bureau, and representatives of social and mass organizations, as well as students currently pursuing medical sciences degrees. The attendees marched from the university to the monument erected on the Havana seawall.
"On November 27, 1871, 154 years ago, eight medical students were torn from life by false accusations, deprived of a promising future, of their noble aspirations, and of the simple right to live, in a crime that cast a shadow over our island," expressed Thalía Morell, speaking on behalf of the University Student Federation.
The commemoration reaffirms that those young men, unjustly accused, are an example of dignity and remain alive in the hearts of current generations.
It also serves as a historical lesson and a reaffirmation of the principles of Cuban society, underscoring its permanent commitment to its historical legacy and the formation of patriotic values in the youth.
