Cuba rejects extension of EU measures against Venezuela

Havana, Nov 14 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez on Monday rejected the extension of the unilateral coercive measures taken by the European Union (EU) against Venezuela.
The head of Cuban diplomacy noted in a message on Twitter that these actions harm the well-being of the Venezuelan people and are contrary to international law.
This weekend, the European Union extended the actions against the Bolivarian Republic imposed since 2017 and which, according to Caracas, constitute an unfortunate decision as the Government and the opposition are making progress in the negotiations.
A communiqué from the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry released this weekend noted that Europe insists on a completely wrong strategy, with which it has failed in the last five years to meet its objective of overthrowing the Government.
The document added that it is an insane policy that resorts to tools of political blackmail, contrary to democratic principles and human rights, instituting a dangerous practice contrary to the principles of international law and peaceful coexistence among States.
The restrictions imposed by Brussels on Venezuela include the embargo of products, the prohibition of government officials from entering the EU and the freezing of assets.
