Havana, March 21 (RHC)-- President Miguel Díaz-Canel today reaffirmed Cuba's commitment to the fight against Racism on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
Cuba joins the "Voices for Action against Racism" on International Day against this universal scourge, the president wrote on Twitter.
The Cuban Revolution believes in only one race: the human race. And it will fight against prejudices and inherited discriminatory practices. No to Racism, he added.
Likewise, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez pointed out that the island's progress in its National Program against Racism and Racial Discrimination reflects the political will and commitment to constructing an increasingly fair and inclusive socialist society.
"We will not cease in our efforts to eradicate any vestige of discrimination," he remarked.
In 1979, the United Nations General Assembly decided that a week of solidarity against Racism and racial discrimination should be organized in all States every March 21, in memory of the massacre of 69 people in South Africa during a peaceful demonstration against apartheid in 1960.
The 2022 edition of the International Day is entitled Voices for Action against Racism.
