Havana, Sep 23 (RHC) On Wednesday, the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel reaffirmed at the United Nations our country's commitment to climate change during a meeting of the Alliance of Small Island States.

During his virtual intervention, the president demanded the necessary commitment of developed nations to avoid the destruction of the environment caused by irrational consumption patterns.

"Developed countries must assume their responsibility in support of efforts to achieve sustainable development for all peoples and to save the planet from the threats they caused," he said.

Díaz-Canel also ratified the island's solidarity and humanist will in the face of those risks.

He said that we will continue promoting cooperation, especially in health, and sharing experiences in risk reduction.

The head of state reiterated Cuba's commitment to the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda, the Paris Agreement and the Samoa Pathway, while supporting the declaration of the Alliance of Small Island States. (Source: PL)
