Havana, March 19 (RHC)--  Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, headed the island's delegation that participated, as Observer Country, in the X United Kingdom-Caribbean Virtual Forum.

In his address, the Cuban Minister thanked the British Foreign Minister, Dominic Raab, for the invitation to this Forum and expressed his satisfaction for the possibility of sharing experiences on issues that unite and identify Cuba with the Caribbean and in which there are experiences and potentials to work together with the region and also with the United Kingdom.

Rodríguez Parrilla pondered the importance of cooperation on issues that require urgent and collective responses, such as the fight against climate change, natural disasters, and the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Positive experiences based on principles of solidarity and cooperation are already being shown.

The minister also stressed that Cuba has had to face these challenges in a scenario of unprecedented tightening of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States government.

Likewise, he reiterated the willingness to continue participating actively in the preparatory stage of the upcoming Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26); and to continue collaborating with the Caribbean region, the United Kingdom, and other countries in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is the third time that Cuba takes part in this event as an observer. The United Kingdom-Caribbean Forum is held approximately every two years.

Its main objective is to serve as a platform for high-level dialogue between the United Kingdom, CARICOM countries, and the British Overseas Territories on important bilateral, regional and international issues.
