Cuba mourns passing of MININT Brigadier Gen. Castro Delgado
Cuba on Thursday mourned the death of (r) Brigadier General José Castro Delgado, head of the bodyguard corps of the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, the Interior Ministry (MININT) reported.
According to the MININT´s official website, Castro Delgado, who served as Fidel Castro´s bodyguard for several years, passed away at the age of 86.
Castro Delgado comes from a lowly family and joined the revolutionary struggle in Manicaragua municipality, in the central province of Villa Clara, from an early age.
He received several state decorations, among them, the Medals for the Clandestine Struggle; Fight Against Bandits; “Olo Pantoja” and “Eliseo Reyes”, both first class.
Likewise, as a reward for his exemplary career, he received several distinctions and commemorative stamps.
