The book "Fidel Castro, Nuestra Sangre por Vietnam" (Fidel Castro, Our Blood for Vietnam) will be launched at the Latin American News Agency, Prensa Latina, on Wednesday as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the historic leader's visit to that Asian country.

The 76-page text gathers dozens of images, most unpublished or little known, that marked a milestone in the relations and fraternity between Cuba and Vietnam.

The book emerged thanks to a collaboration between Prensa Latina with the Vietnam News Agency (VNA). The Ocean Press publisher also contributed to its preparation.

Readers will see photos and read articles written by Prensa Latina journalists who worked in Hanoi during different periods.

According to Prensa Latina President Luis Enrique González, the text is a modest tribute to the memory of Vietnamese heroes and martyrs and the solidarity between the two countries.

Fidel Castro was the first and only world leader to visit the liberated areas in South Vietnam despite the dangers of US bombing.

Fidel’s presence in Vietnam was a gesture of personal courage and a call for the international community to learn about the cause of the heroic Vietnamese people and express its solidarity with that struggle.
