Cuba interested in closer cooperation in agriculture with Belarus

Cuba is interested in expanding cooperation in agriculture with Belarus, President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba Juan Esteban Lazo Hernandez said as he met with Chair of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova and Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko in Minsk on 19 October, BelTA reports.

“We are going to have a very good opportunity to step up cooperation in agriculture. This area is very important for us and it is key to ensuring food security of our people. We have recently received a very big consignment of milk powder from Belarus. There is a big deficit of this product in our country,” Juan Esteban Lazo Hernandez said.

According to him, there are many areas where the two countries can work together. “For example, tourism can contribute a lot to our economies. Culture, sports are also important, because they help us become even greater friends. We signed important agreements in science and the pharmaceutical industry. I will make every effort to facilitate contacts between Belarusian and Cuban women,” Juan Esteban Lazo Hernandez

He is also interested in contacts between the youth.
