The 14th International Meeting of Economists on Globalization and Development begins in Cuba on Tuesday with a group of national and foreign participants.

The meeting will be held at the Conference Center in Havana until November 17, after ten years without this kind of gathering and whose debates could contribute to decision-making in this complex, uncertain but undoubtedly interconnected world.

Oscar Luis Hung, president of the National Association of Cuban Economists and Accountants (ANEC), told reporters that the participants, from their different lines of thought, could search for solutions to put in the hands of decision-makers proposals with a consensus from diverse social science perspectives.

Such exchanges, he continued, will be enriched this year as of Cuba’s presidency of the G77+China; the new presidency of BRICS comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa; the inclusion of new members; the opening of its bank; war conflicts; and blockades to different countries.

This 14th meeting will have a broad academic program with 13 thematic axes, among which the challenges of the international economy in times of crisis, multilateralism from its different visions, and economic globalization stand out.

The genesis of these meetings among economists dates from 1999, as of a vision by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
