The 15th Belgian Week in Cuba brings together on Monday the best of the European country on cinema, music, comic strips and plastic arts, taking place virtually due to Covid-19.

With support of the Office of the Historian of Havana and the Belgian Embassy in Cuba, the cultural event offers a retrospective on its founding years and pays tribute to Doctor in Historical Sciences Eusebio Leal, who recently passed away.

This event includes the launching of the book 'Black Beans, Red Ink and Manneken Pis,' written by Huib Billiet, which records the strong ties between the two countries over five centuries.

Workshops and master classes such as 'La historieta en blanco y negro' (Cartoon in Black and White), taught by Belgian creator Etienne Schreder, are included to the extensive program. Schreder was inspired in the work by European comic master Didier Comes.

With the label #BelgicaContigo, the contest invites to the online exhibition 'Hombres, obras y maquinas' (Men, works and machines), which shows the artistic work of the Belgian association Meta-Morphosis in Cuba.

The Belgian Week will be broadcast until November 15 on Facebook, belonging to the European diplomatic headquarters, and the Vitrina de Valonia cultural center, the latter dedicated to promote the culture from that region in Havana, capital of Cuba.
