Solidarity with Cuba is intense in Belarus, said Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero at a meeting with activists of the Belarusian Society of Friendship with the Caribbean nation, BelTA news agency reported.
“We very much appreciate the solidarity shown to us in different countries of the world. And in Belarus this solidarity is felt with special intensity. I am grateful that so many people have come to attend this meeting. I am especially touched to see young Belarusians here,” the Cuban leader noted.
Geographically speaking, we are far from each other, but our hearts are close, Marrero told attendees at the solidarity event.
Marrero also stressed that during a meeting with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, both agreed that political relations between the two countries are at the highest level. “We have no contradictions, we always support each other,” he added.
“However, we are not satisfied that our economic ties do not reach the same level, although Belarus and Cuba have a huge potential to increase that interaction,” Marrero stated.
During the day, in addition to the meeting with President Lukashenko, Marrero also met with his Belarusian counterpart, Roman Golovchenko.
