Approximately 744 international delegates from over 30 countries, representing a hundred trade union organizations from five continents, confirmed their participation in Cuba's activities for International Workers' Day.
In the context of May 1st, trade unionists and friends of the country will arrive in the Caribbean island, as part of the May 1st Brigade, trade union internships, specialized groups, and those arriving independently, as announced yesterday at a press conference by the CTC Secretary General, Ulises Guilarte.
Of the confirmed delegates, 468 are from Latin America and North America, 201 from Europe, 67 from Africa and the Middle East, and 8 from Asia and Oceania.
The nations with the largest number of representations are: the United States (237), the United Kingdom (78), France (58), and Germany (51).
The visitors, summoned by the CTC and the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), will participate in the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, from April 30 to May 2.
As part of the agenda of the Meeting, there will also take place in this capital city, a ‘trade union-tribune’ in a selected labor center, the attendance to May 1st march, and the ‘international party of trade union solidarity’ in this capital, the organizers assured.
This event gives continuity to other world forums previously held in Havana this year (VI International Conference for the Balance of the World, January, and IV International Colloquium Patria, March), which provide knowledge about the reality of Cuba, Guilarte valued.
The member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party also highlighted the realization, on May 2, of a Round Table informative program in which some of the trade union activists present will appear.
He added that trade unions and social and solidarity organizations will express, once again, their rejection of the hostility of the US government against Cuba and will demand the end of the economic, financial, and commercial siege against it.
