Cuba reported on Friday 550 active cases of Covid-19, of them 527 evolving stably, 18 in serious condition and five critical.

Dr. Francisco Duran, National Director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, reported that 60 new patients were diagnosed with the disease in the last 24 hours, which brings the total number of confirmed cases in this country to 3,866.

There were no deaths due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus on Thursday, thus the total number of deaths remains at 92.

The specialist explained during the daily press conference that of the new diagnosed patients, 31 are women and 29 are men, all Cuban, and 41 turned out asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis, demonstrating the complexity of the disease.

Five thousand two diagnostic tests were studied on Thursday throughout the national territory, bringing to 382,496 the total of samples taken since the first cases came to light on March 11th.

The health authorities reiterate that the risk is still extremely high, which is why they insist on compliance with the control and protection measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

The western region has at present the greatest complexity of transmission, mainly Havana, for which, from September 1st, harsher restrictive measures will be implemented in the Cuban capital, which include severe fines, as well as prohibitions and limitations to the movement of people and vehicles.
