Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez expressed his support and solidarity with the Government of Mexico this Saturday following the heavy rains that have left at least 37 dead and caused damage in 117 municipalities of the North American nation.

"We express our solidarity and support to the Government and people of Mexico for the victims and damages caused by the floods that have affected several states of this sister nation," stated the Cuban chancellor on his social media.

Rodríguez's message included "heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims."

The rains are associated with Tropical Storm Raymond, which formed last Thursday off the coast of the state of Guerrero (west), according to the National Meteorological Service.

The phenomenon has caused intense rains in several states, converging with the remnants of Hurricane Priscilla and other systems in the Atlantic Ocean.

To date, a dozen missing people have been confirmed due to hillside landslides and swollen rivers that have caused severe flooding in the central states of Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro, and in the eastern state of Veracruz.
