President Miguel Díaz-Canel reiterated on Wednesday Cuba’s commitment to reaching food sovereignty, as he voiced his gratitude for the support given by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on such endeavor.
On his X profile, the president highlighted the celebration of World Food Day today, and praised Cuba’s efforts in that field, supported by science and innovation and with the contribution from all economic stockholders.
Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez wrote on X that the United States blockade seriously impairs the Cuban people’s access to food, as part of a continued attempt to deprive the people of that right.
The head of Cuban diplomacy commented that in 2023 and 2024, such a policy, implemented continuously for more than six decades, caused damages worth more than 441 million dollars to the Cuban agri-food sector.
