The Cuban men's team defeated its counterpart from the Bahamas today 76-62 in the second window of the qualifiers for the 2025 Americas Cup of basketball.
In the capital Ciudad Deportiva the superiority of the locals was seen from the beginning, starting ahead 14-5, although a reaction from the visitors allowed them to cut back to close the first quarter 16-11.
The tone continued in the second quarter and the home team went into the halftime break with a 34-26 lead, even putting several of the substitutes on the court.
At no time did the Cubans see their advantage in danger and they also finished the last two quarters with a good lead.
Individually, the best on the court were Reynaldo García and Yoanki Mencía.
Those led by technical director Onel Planas will play next Monday against Puerto Rico, at the close of this window.
Next there will be a break and those from the national team will travel in February 2025 to Bahamian and Puerto Rican lands, where they will close the classification heading to Americup 2025, to which the first two advance.
