Cuba congratulates teachers and educational work of the Revolution

Cuba celebrates Educator's Day, and the 63rd anniversary of its declaration of illiteracy-free territory, a fact considered the first great educational achievement of the revolution in power, since 1959.
The date also recognizes the Cuban educational work that guarantees free and quality education for all, with the training of human resources and the deployment of infrastructure in this area.
During the National Day of the Educator celebration, President Miguel Díaz-Canel awarded teachers and educational institutions due to their recognized trajectory in the sector.
In the Revolution Palace, seat of the Government, the President imposed the Frank Pais Order, First Degree, on 13 outstanding professionals in higher education for their integral contribution to citizens’ training.
Other teachers of higher education were awarded the Frank País Order, Second Grade (12), the José Tey Medal (16), and the Distinction for Cuban Education (14), in recognition of their work and revolutionary trajectory.
The Universidad de Oriente, based in Santiago de Cuba, earned the Frank Pais Order, First Degree, and the Estación Experimental de Pasto y Forrajes Indio Hatuey, belonging to the western Universidad de Matanzas, received the Frank Pais Order Second Degree.
The head of Higher Education, Walter Baluja, highlighted the values of the Cuban education system and the consecration of thousands of teachers who train future generations.
As part of the day of tribute to the island’s teachers, the head of State also gathered with teachers and professors of various disciplines, whom he called to fight together “the great challenge of building, from the classroom, the future of Cuba”.
