Havana, April 1 (Prensa Latina) Science and technology are pivotal pillars for Cuban development, for which companies and universities are presently committed to progress in this field, according to local authorities.

In the ¨Mesa Redonda¨ television program, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment Armando Rodríguez said some new organization forms have already began to encourage scientific-technological results for innovation.

For this, some technological parks in Havana and Matanzas have already been established, both linked to university centers of each territory.

'In addition, there are 143 innovation entities, four High-Tech companies, interface societies, and in 2020 we gave the green light to income accounts in higher study centers to foster scientific activities,' deputy minister explained.

The Director of Havana Scientific and Technological Park Rafael Torralbas detailed that such a project is among its key pillars aimed to achieve a dynamic, sustainable activity, promoting joint plans of companies and higher educational levels.

Director of Matanzas Technology Park Vladimir Castillo, on the other hand, announced that one of his purposes is to turn Varadero Resort into a digital city, where residents and sightseers will be able to interact and take full advantage of ICTs.
