Havana, January 27 (RHC)-- Cuba will be present at the 40th Anniversary Special Session of the Forum of Ministers of Environment of Latin America and the Caribbean, whose meetings begin Thursday in Costa Rica.

The event, which takes place in San Jose until Friday, will be attended by a delegation headed by Dr. Adianez Taboada, Vice Minister of Science, Technology, and Environment.

The event will be a space for dialogue on the future and the role of this regional political space within the framework of the 50th anniversary of the United Nations Environment Program.

The delegations will address ways to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals in the context of post-Covid-19 economic and social recovery. They will discuss how to strengthen partnerships and financing for environmental action.

According to the note released by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Environment (CITMA), the Caribbean nation aims to maintain an active call for the need for concrete, inclusive, practical actions with regional and global scope, where everyone marches in the same direction to reverse the damage suffered by nature.

Cuba maintains its position of contributing to the strengthening of the regional offices, granting them more significant financial and technological resources and the Latin American and Caribbean Initiative for Sustainable Development (ILAC) concerning the sustainable use and development of biodiversity and the increase in the use of renewable energy sources, CITMA said.
